Leaving MagicINFO: Keep Your Samsung Screens, Change the Software

Samsung is ending MagicINFO. What the end-of-sale and end-of-support dates mean, your three options, and how to move Samsung screens to easyCMS step by step.

Samsung is retiring MagicINFO, the software that came with its signage displays for more than a decade. If your Samsung screens run MagicINFO, you have to choose what they run next. The panels themselves are fine. They can keep hanging where they are and run different software.

This article sets out Samsung’s own dates, the three options open to you, and what a move to easyCMS involves, including the parts that take work.

The dates Samsung has published

Samsung’s documentation site for MagicINFO and VXT lists the following roadmap (checked October 2026):

Date What happens
31 December 2026 End of sale for MagicINFO on-premise, for new and existing customers
28 February 2027 End of service for MagicINFO Cloud
From 2027 All Samsung sales move to VXT, its subscription cloud service
31 December 2029 End of support for MagicINFO

Samsung also states that maintenance for MagicINFO 8 has already ended, with the last security patch released in October 2023. Anything found since then is, in Samsung’s words, the customer’s responsibility.

So screens on MagicINFO Cloud have a few months left. On-premise servers keep running after the end of sale, but with no new licences after 2026 and no support after 2029. A server on MagicINFO 8 is already out of maintenance today.

Your three options

1. Upgrade to MagicINFO 9

Samsung offers an upgrade to MagicINFO 9 Server as a paid service. It keeps your current way of working for now, but it is the product Samsung is ending: support stops at the end of 2029, so it postpones the decision by three years rather than making it.

2. Move to Samsung VXT

VXT is Samsung’s replacement: a cloud service, paid per screen by subscription. It is the natural choice if your screens are all Samsung and you want to stay in Samsung’s world, with one supplier for panels and software. Samsung doesn’t publish a list price; reseller listings we checked in October 2026 show around $20 per screen per month or $200 per screen per year, with volume discounts. Ask a reseller for a quote for your number of screens.

3. Run another signage system on the same panels

Samsung signage panels can run an app from another company as a Custom App. That is how easyCMS works: the player is installed on the panel itself, so the screens stay box-free, and you manage them from a website and a phone app instead of a Samsung server.

Two reasons people choose this route:

  • Pay once instead of every year. easyCMS is paid once per screen, with no monthly fee on the standard and PRO accounts (the numbers are below).
  • One system for every screen. If you also have Android players, Windows PCs or LG displays, they all run on the same account, side by side.

Will your panels run easyCMS?

The easyCMS player needs a Samsung commercial signage display with Tizen 4.0 or newer, which Samsung calls SSSP 6 and later: roughly the 2018 models onwards. Panels that ran MagicINFO are almost always commercial signage panels, so the question is only how old they are.

Your panels What to do
Tizen 4.0 / SSSP 6 or newer (about 2018 onwards) They can run easyCMS. Update the firmware first
Tizen 3.0 / SSSP 5 (about 2017) Send us the model numbers before you plan anything
Older panels, or MagicINFO on a separate player PC Put an Android player on the HDMI input, or run the Windows player on the PC you already have

The full compatibility table is in Samsung Tizen digital signage software.

How the move works, step by step

1. Make a list of your screens

For each screen, write down where it is, the model number, the firmware version, and what it shows today. The model number is on the label at the back and on the panel’s support menu. Most of the effort in a migration is this list, and it saves a site visit later.

2. Try one screen first

Pick a screen that is easy to reach. Set Play via to Custom App, install the player with Install Web App and https://app.myeasycms.com, enter your CMS address and key, then claim the screen at Add a display. The Samsung Tizen player setup guide walks through each step. The panel stops running MagicINFO from the moment you switch Play via, so do this one outside opening hours.

Tip You can switch back. If the trial screen needs to go back on MagicINFO for a while, set Play via back to MagicInfo on that panel.

3. Rebuild your content in Studio

MagicINFO content does not transfer automatically, and that is the part of the move that takes real time. The files are the easy part: your photos and videos upload to the easyCMS library as they are. The layouts and schedules are rebuilt.

Most people find this faster than expected, because easyCMS Studio starts from more than 80 ready-made templates: menus, offers, notices, opening hours, timetables and welcome screens. Pick the closest one, change the words, add your photos, and set when it plays: always, between two dates, or repeating on chosen days. Studio works on your phone, so you can do it standing in front of the screen.

For a complicated set of layouts, an expert hour is 25€, and we can rebuild them with you.

4. Move the rest, one site at a time

Once the trial screen has run for a week, do the rest. For a batch of panels, one file on a USB stick fills in the CMS address and key for you, which is explained in the setup guide under “Setting up several panels”. Claim each screen as you go and give it a name you will recognise later.

5. Switch off the old server

When the last screen is on easyCMS, export anything you want to keep from MagicINFO, then retire the server and its licences.

What it costs to move

The panels you have already paid for. On the software side:

Number of screens easyCMS, bought in one order easyCMS, added over time VXT at $200 per screen per year (reseller listing, Oct 2026)
5 313€ once 445€ once $1,000 a year
10 893€ once 1,190€ once $2,000 a year
25 1,883€ once 2,675€ once $5,000 a year

The easyCMS figures are our published prices: the 49€ account up to five screens or the PRO account at 299€, each including one display licence, plus 99€ per further screen, or 66€ when bought in the same order. The commercial Tizen player licence is included: we apply it centrally. Above 25 screens, the Enterprise account is 1290€ a year, with Samsung screens at 49€ each.

The VXT figures are a reseller’s list price and will differ from the quote you get, so treat that column as a rough guide. The break-even arithmetic for any subscription is in digital signage cost per screen and switching from a subscription to a lifetime licence.

When staying with Samsung makes more sense

We would rather you chose right than chose us:

  • Every screen is Samsung, and you want one supplier. VXT keeps panels, software and support with Samsung.
  • You rely on features specific to Samsung’s software, such as tools you use through a Samsung partner or a Samsung support contract. List them before you move, and ask us whether easyCMS covers each one.
  • You need a synchronised video wall on Samsung panels. In easyCMS, synchronised walls run on Android players, not on Samsung panels.
  • Your layouts lean heavily on live web pages or several videos at once. The computer in a panel is modest whichever software runs on it, and a dedicated player handles that better.

Next step

Start with one screen: an easyCMS account is a one-time 49€ and includes the licence for it. Follow the setup guide, claim it at Add a display, and put a template on it from Studio. If it does what you need, move the rest.

Planning a larger move? Send us your list of model numbers and we will tell you which panels are ready and which need a player.
