Samsung Tizen Digital Signage Software With No Monthly Fee

Run Samsung Tizen signage displays with easyCMS: which panels work, set-up in four steps, control from your phone with Studio, and one payment per screen.

A Samsung signage display has its own computer inside it. Put the easyCMS player on that computer and the screen plays your content straight away, with no box behind it and no HDMI cable. You change what it shows from your phone, and you pay once for the screen, not every month.

This page covers which Samsung displays work, what set-up involves, how you run the screens day to day, and what it costs. The click-by-click instructions are in the Samsung Tizen player setup guide.

Add a Samsung screen

Choose Samsung Tizen and the page walks you through it, then connects the screen to your account.

What “Tizen” means on a Samsung screen

Tizen is the operating system Samsung puts in its displays. The signage models add the Samsung Smart Signage Platform, usually shortened to SSSP, which lets the panel run a signage app from a company other than Samsung. That is how the easyCMS player gets onto the screen: the panel installs it as a Custom App and opens it every time it switches on.

Samsung’s own software for these panels is MagicINFO, now being replaced by a subscription service called VXT. You don’t need either to use easyCMS. You switch the panel from MagicINFO to Custom App once, during set-up, and from then on the panel runs our player. If you are moving off MagicINFO, leaving MagicINFO explains Samsung’s end-of-life dates and the choices you have.

Which Samsung displays work

The player runs on Samsung’s commercial signage displays with Tizen 4.0 or newer. Samsung numbers the signage platform separately from Tizen, so a supplier may quote either one:

Signage platform Tizen version Roughly Works with easyCMS
SSSP 4 Tizen 2.4 2016 models No
SSSP 5 Tizen 3.0 2017 models Ask us first
SSSP 6 Tizen 4.0 2018 models Yes
SSSP 7 Tizen 5.0 2019 to 2021 models Yes
SSSP 10 Tizen 6.5 2022 models onwards Yes
Tizen 7 and later Tizen 7.0+ Recent models Yes. Send us the model number before you order in bulk

The model years are approximate, because Samsung sells some models for several years. In practice that means the QM, QB, QH, QE and OH series and their neighbours: smart signage panels sold through AV and business suppliers.

Watch out Samsung home televisions also run Tizen, but not the signage platform, so they cannot install the player. The same applies to The Frame. If you already own Samsung TVs, read can you use a Samsung TV for digital signage: a small player behind the TV solves it.

To check a panel you already have, press Menu and look under System for Play via, or press Home and look for Custom App or URL Launcher. If either is there, the panel can run the player. If you are buying, ask the supplier to confirm in writing that the exact model number is a Samsung smart signage display, and send it to us if you want a second check.

From the box to playing content in four steps

Set-up takes about fifteen minutes per screen, most of it typing with the remote. A USB keyboard plugged into the panel makes it quicker.

  1. Set the clock and switch to Custom App. Set the date, time and timezone first: a wrong clock is the most common reason the install fails. Then set Play via to Custom App (older panels call it URL Launcher).
  2. Install the player. Choose Install Web App and type https://app.myeasycms.com. The panel downloads the player from your easyCMS server and keeps it up to date from then on. No internet at the panel during set-up? The USB install pack is ready to copy onto a stick, with nothing to rename or edit.
  3. Connect it. Choose Configure Manually, then enter your CMS address and CMS key from your welcome email, and press Connect. Don’t use Use Activation Code: that is for a different service.
  4. Claim it at Add a display. On a phone connected to the same network as the panel, open Add a display, choose Samsung Tizen and sign in. The screen appears in the list. Name it and press Connect.

Each step, including the error messages and how to fix them, is in the Samsung Tizen player setup guide. Setting up a batch of panels? The guide shows how one file on a USB stick fills in the address and key for you.

Run your Samsung screens from your phone

Once a panel is connected, you run it from easyCMS Studio, the simple app at app.myeasycms.com/studio that works on your phone as well as on a computer. There is nothing to install: sign in with your easyCMS username and password.

  • Pick a design and show it. More than 80 ready-made templates for menus, offers, notices, opening hours, timetables and welcome screens. Change the words, tap Show on, choose the Samsung screen.
  • Decide when it plays. Always, between two dates, or Repeat on chosen days, such as breakfast from 07:00 to 11:00 on weekdays. The screen goes back to its usual design afterwards.
  • Photos, videos and playlists. Upload from your phone’s camera roll, put files in order, and play the playlist on as many screens as you like.
  • Urgent notice. One tap puts a message on every screen at once, such as “Closed today”, and one tap takes it off again.
  • Check it played. Each screen shows whether it is online, and What played lists what each screen played and when, with a CSV download. More on that in proof of play.

The same Studio runs Android, Windows and LG webOS screens, so a mix of players is no extra work. Group several screens together and send one design to the whole group.

What Samsung panels are good at, and where they are not

Good at:

  • Tidy installs. One device per screen. Nothing to hide behind the panel, nothing to come unplugged, one power lead.
  • Running all day. Signage panels are built for long hours. They come back on by themselves after a power cut, and can switch off at night on a timer.
  • Playing without internet. The player keeps a copy of everything it needs and carries on if the connection drops. See digital signage without internet.
  • Central control. On/off times, brightness and the remote lock can be set from easyCMS for all your Samsung panels at once. Tell us what you need and we set it on your account.

Not so good at:

  • Heavy layouts. The computer in a panel is modest. Several videos at once, or a layout leaning on live web pages, run more smoothly on an Android player or a Windows PC feeding the same screen over HDMI.
  • Synchronised video walls. Several screens playing one picture in step is an Android-player feature in easyCMS, not available on Samsung panels.
  • Old firmware. Many Tizen problems, from an install that refuses to a video that stutters, are fixed by a firmware update. Update the panel before you start.

If you are still choosing the hardware, Tizen vs webOS vs Android player compares the options side by side.

What it costs

easyCMS is paid once per screen. There is no monthly fee on the standard and PRO accounts, and nothing extra for a Samsung player: we buy the commercial Tizen player licence and apply it centrally, so there is no separate licence to enter on the panel.

Your Samsung screens easyCMS, bought in one order easyCMS, added over time
1 screen 49€ 49€
5 screens 49€ + (4 × 66€) = 313€ 49€ + (4 × 99€) = 445€
10 screens 299€ + (9 × 66€) = 893€ 299€ + (9 × 99€) = 1,190€

Up to five screens fit on the 49€ account, which includes one display licence. Further licences are 99€ each, or 66€ when bought in the same order as the account. Above five screens it is the PRO account at 299€, and above 25 the Enterprise account at 1290€ a year with Samsung, LG and Android screens at 49€ each. The panels themselves come from your display supplier.

For comparison, Samsung doesn’t publish a list price for VXT, its subscription software for these panels. Reseller listings we checked in October 2026 show it at around $20 per screen per month, or $200 per screen per year. On five screens that is about $1,000 every year, against 313€ once. Resellers quote different prices and offer volume discounts, so ask yours for a quote. The full subscription-versus-one-payment arithmetic is in digital signage cost per screen.

Questions people ask

Do I need MagicINFO or a Samsung account?

No. The panel runs the easyCMS player as a Custom App. MagicINFO and VXT are not involved, and there is no Samsung subscription to keep up.

Can I mix Samsung panels with other screens?

Yes. Android players, Windows PCs and LG webOS displays all connect to the same account and appear side by side in Studio. A design you make once plays on any of them.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The screen keeps playing what it has already downloaded, including its schedule. When the connection comes back, it picks up any changes.

How does the player get updated?

Panels installed with Install Web App update themselves when we release a new player to your easyCMS server. A panel installed from USB is updated with a newer USB install pack. See updating players.

Can I put portrait screens on the wall?

Yes. Set the panel’s own rotation, then switch the design to portrait in Studio. Most templates rearrange themselves for the taller shape.
